Alumni Association
Reimel Judging
Dear Villanova Law Graduates:
With the new academic year rapidly approaching, we are turning our attention to the upcoming 46th Annual Theodore L. Reimel Moot Court Competition. Last year, the Reimel Competition was a tremendous success thanks to the many alumni who volunteered their time and experience by participating as judges. We are asking once again for your support.
We are currently seeking alumni to judge the first round of the Competition, which will run from October 10 to October 22. If you think you may be interested in participating as a judge this fall, please complete our
online form by August 19, 2005.
Upon being notified of your interest, a Moot Court Board member will contact you in the fall to attempt to schedule you for an argument based upon your availability. The arguments will be held on week nights (Monday through Friday), with the early arguments beginning at 7:00 p.m. and late arguments beginning at 9:00 p.m. Additional arguments will be held on Saturdays, with the earliest arguments beginning at 9:00 a.m., followed by arguments beginning at 11:00 a.m., and lastly arguments beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Moot Court Board will do its best to accommodate any special requests; such as, serving with a particular alumnus/na or on a particular day or time. Such requests may be noted on the information form.
There are several special options available in the information form which we encourage prospective Reimel judges to consider. Beginning this year, participating judges can choose to receive competition documents, such as, student briefs and the bench memo, via email in lieu of hard copies of competition documents sent via postal mail. Additionally, we are especially appreciative of those alumni who volunteer to serve as emergency judges in the case that other scheduled judges become unavailable. If you think you may be able to judge an argument on short notice, please note this on your form.
This year's Reimel Competition promises to be exciting, as it will involve an issue related to environmental law. We hope that we can count on your support this year, and we thank you for your time and consideration.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the following Reimel Administrators in the Moot Court Board Office by phone, 610-519-7055, or email.
