50th Anniversary

Alumni Association

U.S Supreme Court Admissions

Fifty alumni are invited to participate in a U.S. Supreme Court Admissions ceremony sponsored by the Villanova Law Alumni Association in honor of the Law School's 50th Anniversary on Monday, April 5, 2004. Spots are still available, so it is not too late to be admitted to our land’s highest court in the U.S. Supreme Court Chamber.

To qualify for admission, an applicant must have been admitted to practice in the highest court of a State, Commonwealth, Territory or Possession, or the District of Columbia for a period of at least three years immediately before the date of the application; must not have been the subject of any adverse disciplinary action pronounced or in effect during that three-year period; and must appear to the Court to be of good moral and professional character. There is a $100 application fee and an application form to be completed by the applicant.

Participation is limited for each ceremony. Both ceremonies will take place on opinion days, and applicants are permitted only one guest in the Courtroom (children under six may not be admitted inside), per the Court’s rules.

Applicants and guests are asked to arrive at the courthouse the following morning at 8:30 a.m. for breakfast, as well as to receive direction from the court clerk.  The court will convene at 10:00 a.m. that morning, and admissions will be last order of business.  A group photograph will be taken after the ceremony.  Immediately following, the Law School and Alumni Association will then celebrate the group admission with a luncheon in B. Smith's Restaurant in Washington, DC's Union Station for applicants and their guests.

Reserve your place today by contacting the Office of Alumni Affairs at 610-519-7054 or alumni@law.villanova.edu.
