Biography - Sara Woods

Sara joined Villanova in August 2002. A graduate of Villanova Law, Sara has committed her entire career to public interest work. Before joining Villanova as Director of Public Service & Pro Bono, Sara served as Staff Attorney and as Volunteer Attorney Project Coordinator for Women Against Abuse Legal Center in Philadelphia. She also spent time as a Staff Attorney with the Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County. Prior to law school, Sara served as a Counselor and Advocate with Delaware County Women Against Rape. In this way, Sara was able to build upon the undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Women's Studies she earned from Penn State, where she was Phi Beta Kappa and a University Scholar.

Sara is admitted to the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and belongs to the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations. In addition, Sara serves on the Law School Alumni Association Board of Advisors and chairs the Public Interest Committee. Sara is also a Pennsylvania certified sexual assault and domestic violence counselor and an active member of WOMENS WAY.

During her law student years at Villanova, Sara served both as President of the Pro Bono Society and Director of the Public Interest Fellowship Program. Sara was honored at graduation with the distinguished Hyman Goodman Award, given to the student who did the most for the class and the school of law through both academic and extracurricular achievement. In addition, Sara received the Law Alumni Award, given by the Alumni Association to the graduate who has made the most meaningful contribution to pro bono service during law school. During law school, Sara interned in two public interest organizations: Delaware County Legal Assistance Association, and the Women's Law Project.
