Academic Support
Procedure for Reasonable Accommodations
The law school has instituted a revised procedure for considering student requests for reasonable accommodations. The law school works diligently at meeting the needs of students with disabilities, and it grants reasonable accommodations provided that the requested accommodations do not fundamentally alter the nature of the academic program or compromise an essential aspect of the academic program.
Student requesting reasonable accommodations must make their requests on the Request
for Reasonable Accommodations Form. Hard copies of the form will be available from Dean Brogan’s office.
Students requesting exam accommodations should submit the form to Sheilah Vance, Assistant Dean for Academic Support, by November 10th for accommodations for the fall semester exam period and March 22, 2004 for the spring term. The Accommodations Committee will consider the requests and make a recommendation to Dean Brogan, who decides whether accommodations will be granted.
Accommodations for second and third year students who have previously received accommodations do not require new supporting documentation. However, all students must complete the request form each semester for both exam and other accommodations.
Students should refer to the 2003-2004 Student Handbook for details on the Accommodations Policy. As noted in the policy and on the form, requests will not be considered unless students submit the required supporting documentation from the treating professional, including diagnosis, recommendations and supporting measurements. If you have questions or need more information, contact Dean Vance (vance@law.villanova.edu; Room 43A - near the Financial Aid Office).
