A Day in the Law

The Office of Career Strategy & Advancement and the Alumni Association enthusiastically invites all first year students to participate in our annual "A Day in the Law" Program for First Year students, to take place over Winter Break.

What is "A Day in the Law"?

"A Day in the Law" is an educational program designed to expose First Years to the law in a practical way. "A Day in the Law" is not a job interview or recruiting tool. Many law students, even those with prior work experience, have never visited a law office before and/or do not know any practicing attorneys. Through this program, First Years can learn about the "real world" of law practice outside the hiring context.

How does "A Day in the Law" work?

• Interested First Years will complete and return a short Registration Form & Student Pledge by a deadline in mid-November.
   
• Participating First Years and Alumni will be matched according to geographic proximity and other factors. First Years must contact their hosts immediately after matching.
   
• Students and Alumni will arrange a mutually convenient "Day in the Law" over Winter Holiday Break. Students are responsible for confirming all arrangements.
   
• Students arrange and pay for their own travel or other necessities.
   
• Each "Day in the Law" can be different--- it is largely up to the First Years and their hosts. Even a half-day (i.e., a morning or afternoon) can provide a meaningful learning experience.

We hope Villanova Law Graduates and First Years will learn from each other during "A Day in the Law" Program. We cannot predict participation levels or geographic matches with absolute certainty. Each year, virtually every student who registered received a match--nearly 1/3 of the entire 1L class!
