Journals & Moot Court
Journals
Villanova University School of Law offers three published and two on-line journals, which serve as an academic forum for law students. These Publications give law students significant additional training in independent legal research and create exceptional opportunities for increasing knowledge in legal areas studied in the classroom, as well as developing disciplined legal writing skills. The journals also provide a vehicle for discussion of various legal topics that students can use while they attend the School of Law, or after when they enter the legal profession.

Summer Writing Competition Information
Moot Court
The Villanova Moot Court Board was established to develop and improve
student's appellate advocacy skills. The Board only accepts students exceptional
in appellate advocacy. There are three ways a student is invited to join the
Board: selection by the legal writing faculty; through participation in the
summer open try-out competition; or upon reaching the semi-final round of the
Reimel Moot Court Competition. The number of members selected for the Board
varies each year depending on the number of qualified applicants.
The Moot Court Board provides its members with unique and challenging
opportunities. The Outside Competition Program provides the members with the
privilege to test their appellate advocacy skills on a national level. In
addition to outside competition, members work with a legal writing program in
the preparation of the first year brief problem and oral arguments. Lastly, the
Moot Court Board is responsible for the administration of the Reimel
Competition. The Reimel Competition is an internal, appellate advocacy
competition spanning the academic school year. All law students not on a journal
are required to participate.
