Professor Lanctot received her B.A. magna cum laude from Brown University and her J.D. cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center. At Georgetown, she was a case and note editor of the Georgetown Law Journal. Following law school, she was a law clerk to the Honorable Murray M. Schwartz of the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. She then was an associate at Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, in Washington, D.C. and later an Assistant Branch Director for Government Information, Civil Division, United States Department of Justice before joining the faculty in 1988.
Professor Lanctot’s research and teaching interests focus on constitutional law, legal ethics, and employment discrimination.
