Professor Magarian received his B.A. summa cum laude from Yale University and his J.D. magna cum laude from Michigan Law School. At Michigan, he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Michigan Law Review, elected to the Order of the Coif, and the recipient of the Henry Bates Memorial Scholarship. Following law school, Professor Magarian was a law clerk to the Honorable Louis Oberdorfer of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia and the Honorable John Paul Stevens of the United States Supreme Court. He then worked as an associate at Jenner & Block in Washington, D.C., before joining the faculty in 1999.
Professor Magarian’s research and teaching interests focus on constitutional law, the First Amendment, and legislation.
