Reserve Materials

The Law Library’s collection of reserve materials is maintained at the circulation desk. This collection consists of general materials for which there consistently is heavy demand, as well as materials on Course Reserve. Each semester, faculty members are sent a memo asking them to identify recommended and required materials for their courses. With timely responses, we are able to assemble everything before the start of the semester. An up-to-date listing of materials on reserve for each professor and course is available on the Library’s online catalog. A link to the catalog can be found on the Library’s homepage. To add or amend materials on reserve for your courses, please contact Regina Kozul.

Exams

The Law Library receives copies of each semester’s exams which are then bound, indexed and placed on reserve. Exams not received from the Registrar’s Office can be placed on reserve separately. To inquire about past exams on reserve, please contact Maura Buri or Regina Kozul. An online examinations database is under development. Ask April Major for more details.

Student Research Appointments

Students who require extended reference help or some additional legal research instruction can schedule a research appointment with one of the Law Library’s reference librarians. Students preparing to write seminar papers or wishing to review research skills before starting a part-time job or clerkship have benefited from meeting with a librarian beforehand. Please encourage students in your writing seminars to take advantage of research appointments with the Law Library’s Reference Librarians.

Classroom Presentations

Classroom presentations by librarians can be a beneficial way to prepare students to research a seminar or other course paper. Such presentations typically focus on major research tools, both print and electronic, as well as a discussion of research strategies in the field. To arrange for a classroom presentation, please contact Lynne Maxwell, Yolanda Jones, Naz Pantaloni, or one of the Reference Librarians.

Pathfinders

The law library has a large collection of Research Guides to assist researchers in using different parts of our collection. They are available on the law library’s webpage. Special pathfinders tailored for a specific course topic can also be prepared. Please allow adequate time when requesting a pathfinder for one of your courses. To request the preparation a course pathfinder, please contact Lynne Maxwell, Yolanda Jones, Naz Pantaloni, or one of the Reference Librarians.
